Ridley Serves as Guest Lecturer for Georgetown Summer Sports Industry Management Program
First Sports Job founder Dawn Ridley was a guest lecturer at the Georgetown University Summer Sports Industry Management Institute. Over 100 high school students gathered at Georgetown University for a behind the scenes look at the business of sports.
Ridley’s presentation included an in depth discussion about sports marketing, sponsorship and licensing. She also highlighted career opportunities in each area and led the students in a discussion to explore real-world application of the concepts.
“We explored the definition of sports marketing, which includes both the marketing of sports related products and the utilization of sports to promote non-sports products and services. The students were very bright and engaged,” said Ridley.
The students also participated in an interactive exercise that helped them identify officially licensed products and understand the structure of sports licensing agreements.
